"Hello, is this seat taken?" Thomas asked, noticing that Reyna had some joining her for lunch. He planned on catch up with Reyna later this evening for dinner. Thomas knew very little about Carter, so this was good of a time, as any to get to know him.

“No,” Carter said, setting his glass down on the table. “Have a seat.” He looked over, trying to remember if they had met yet or not. He had been busy all morning.

"Appreciate that, I hate to eat alone." Thomas said, with a big grin on his face.

“You and me both,” Carter said with a smile. “It’s that I comfortable time where your not sure who to sit at a table with. I sat here hoping someone would come along and join me.”

"So what do you do on the ship?" Thomas asked, as he started to take a bite from his plate.

“I am a forensic scientist,” Carter said with a smile. He waited to see his reaction.

"So you will be working with the criminal investigations unit, a lot." Thomas suggested, with a big smile on his face. He felt sorry for the poor guy. He knew that would be a lot of hours.

“Yes,” Carter smiled. “That is where my skills are. I like solving mysteries and catching the guilty party.”

"Do you like working long hours." Thomas asked, fearing that the man would be working long hours.

“Not all the time,” Carter replied. “But I know there will be times I will have to.”

"As long as your open to it." Thomas said, thinking to himself, that some times will be a lot of the times.

“”Being s forensic scientist is a busy And demanding job,” Carter continued. “I am prepared to not get a lot of sleep.”

"At least you have an open mind to it, and know what is coming." Thomas said, still feeling bad for him.

“It helps that I like my job,” Carter replied. “I have always liked helping solve puzzles and figure out what caused something to happen.”

"I think that is important, to like what you are doing. Makes the day go by faster." Thomas said, with a big grin, as he kept smiling at Reyna.

“And we spend a lot of time on the job,” Carter added. “I’d hate to spend that time miserable.”

"I bet, the day would feel like it was dragging. I remember getting security assignment for a day. The longest eight hours of my life, ever!" Thomas said, with a smirk on his face.

“I bet it was,” Carter said with a grin. “There are slow days for me as well. Then I have to do the more boring part of the job but it is worth it when I am part of a case.”

"Let's hope for days like that." Thomas said, he wanted more time with Reyna.

“I want to meet more of the crew,” Carter admitted. “I am glad to get to know you but I am kind of hoping to meet some women as well.”

"I would hurry up. Ladies dont single for long on a ship." Thomas suggested to him, thinking he needed to hit on Reyna, to see if he had a shot with her.

“That’s what i was thinking,” Carter said with a smile. “And with my job I need to start looking before I get involved in something that will take up my time.”

"I got my eye on a lady already." Thomas said, with a big grin on his face. He had his eyes on Reyna.

Carter looked around and grinned. “It looks like she has her eye on you as well.” He glanced at the woman she was sitting with and took a long look, wondering what she was like.

"I'll talk to her at dinner tonight." Thomas said, as he started to stare a little more at Reyna.

“Maybe she will bring her friend I would not mind getting to know her,” Carter said as he looked over.

"Adorable, but this will be a more quiet night." Thomas said nicely, suggesting that Carter was not going.

“Well I will have to see if she is eating at the same time as me,” Carter said. “And if not I will find a reason to bump into her.”

"You have your eye on someone, already?" Thomas asked, a little surprised.

“I wouldn’t mind meeting the girl sitting with your friend,” Carter said. “I’m not saying I will chase after her but I could at least see what she is like and make a friend at least.”

Thomas looked over to the girl, Carter was talking about. "She's cute. Better act fast." Thomas said, with a big grin on his face.

“That’s why I am going to make sure I see her at dinner,” Carter said with a smile. “I want to have a chance with her.”

"And what if she does not feel same way?" Thomas asked, with a concerned look on his face. He wanted to be open to the idea, that she may not be interested.

“Then I will at least know,” Carter replied. “I know the feeling of rejection, it has happened before.”

"That is a good way to approach it. There is one good thing about Starfleet. They have the most attractive officers and enlisted in the fleet." Thomas pointed out to Carter.

“You are so right there,” Carter said with a grin. “If I didn’t know better I would almost think it was a rule.”

"It's a rule, I like following." Thomas said, with a big grin on his face. There was so many attractive ladies on the Artemis. Yet with that said, he had his eyes on Reyna.

“Gives everyone some good choices,” Carter murmured. “And makes rejection not feel so bad.” He smiled. “Not that I am worried about it, there is someone here for me.”

"That's a good way of looking at it." Thomas said, with a big grin on his face. Starfleet did have a nack of hiring good looking people. "You will find a girl, I know you will. She will be lucky to have you."

Carter grinned. “I look forward to those first dates and getting to know each other.” His eyes went to the other table. “They are looking at us.”

"And we are looking at them, non of us are any good at being subtle." Thomas suggested, with a big smile. The smile was meant for Reyna.

Carter watched as Reyna smiled back at Thomas. “There is no secret she likes you, I wonder about her friend.” His eyes went to the other woman and he smiled then turned back.

"Only one way to find out, talk to her." Thomas suggested to Carter, hoping that he was going to do that.

“I will,” Carter nodded. “I am going to find her at dinner and sit at her table.”

"Sounds like you a have a plan, I wish you luck." Thomas said, as the scene starts to fade away.

“Thanks,” Carter nodded. “I will take all that I can get.
