Mission: The Hunt Begins
Location: Near Shuttle bay - Deck 8 - USS Artemis
Timeline: MD004 1130 hrs

Siadra went to investigate the shuttle bay area, to her delight she found an area that was acoustically perfect and so she decided to sing a little ditty from film noir days. Siadra may not sound like Frank Sinatra but she did like his songs. The one she decided to sing, and also do a little dance was titled 'Come fly with me'

She started to sing it just after peering though the door into the bay.

"Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away
If you can use some exotic booze
There's a bar in far Bombay
Come on, fly with me, we'll float down in the blue

Fly with me, float down to Peru
In llama land there's a one man band
And he'll toot his flute for you
Fly with me, we'll take off in the blue."

Siadra's voice was sweet and clear, and on tune as she sang.

Chris blinked his eye and leaned back from the console. What the hell? He closed up the diagnostic console from the side of the Cypress and then walked around the shuttle to where the singing was coming from. He stopped walking when he saw the trill woman singing and dancing her way into the shuttle bay.

Not wanting to embarrass her or cause much of a scene, Chris ducked back behind the shuttle before she noticed him and then kicked it with his shoe. There was an audible thud a moment before he walked back around the side of the shuttle. He looked at her earnestly. "Is there something I can help you with?"

"Oh hi there, hopefuly I haven't disturbed you in your work, I just came to have a look at the shuttle bay. Its one of the places that I've not seen yet. My name is Siadra Molaur. I'm the chief of science. And what is your name?" Siadra replied.

"Oh, ummm... hi." Chris replied. "I'm Christopher Blake. I'm the pilot." He knew that his official title here was as Chief Flight Control Officer, but to him he was just a pilot with a few pips. He motioned to the shuttle and shrugged. "I'm just doing diagnostics on our small contingent here. Is there anything specific you're looking for here? I could help you find it if you need."

"Not really, I am just taking a look around, and also if I come across some of the crew then I chat with them." Siadra said pleasantly. " How long have you been in Star Fleet?" she asked as she ran her hand across the side of the shuttle.

"Oh... A few years." Chris replied vaguely. Did he consider his recovery as a part of his tenure? Probably not. He was genuinely off put by the young looking woman, although knowing she was a trill meant she could be far older than he could imagine. "H-how long have you been in Starfleet?" He disliked small talk, especially when he was unprepared. But maybe if he indulged her a little, she'd leave.

"Oh well not that long really, well maybe in my counting, it could be thought a little bit. I've been in Star Fleet for around eight or nine years, if you count my academy years. This is my first assignment to a ship. My last posting was on DS9. "Siadra replied. Noticing some tell tale signs of him being uncomfortable. Siadra gave a slight mental nod towards herself. She was probably going to need to let the shy man have some space.

"I've never been posted there, but I've passed through a few times. Nothing quite like your first flight piloting the wormhole." Chris mentioned. He was somewhat looking forward to seeing how the Artemis handled the journey. He looked down for a moment. He hadn't piloted the wormhole since before the incident. Would that make a difference now?

"I've been always assigned to a ship. Perk of being a pilot I guess." Chris shrugged.

Siadra decided to ask outright. "Hope you don't mind my being direct, but, am I making you uncomfortable? You can be honest with me if I am. I'm not a counselor, nor have I ever been a counselor. I am just someone who has the need to get familiar with where I am at this ship is easier to do that, than DS9. Too many er, unknown factors you might say?"

"I uh..." Chris looked down at his feet. He was being very obvious to say the least. "It's not you. I just... I don't deal well with people." He frowned. That wasn't entirely true. He used to rather outgoing and had very few cares in the world. Then the incident changed that. Now he was certain all people saw was his shame. He gritted his teeth. She was being direct, so would he. He looked her square in the eyes with his good eye and the implanted one. "I make people uncomfortable with... this." He motioned to his implant and quickly lowered his hand.

When Blake first showed her his face, Siadra just looked at it with keen interest. In the back of her mind she heard the music of the Phantom of the Opera playing in her mind. "That isn't making me uncomfortable at all. Its a part of you, its pretty. However if it makes you more comfortable, I will only look at the side of your face you choose to show me. However, I accept you as a whole person."

Her words stung him for some reason. He didn't consider his implant 'pretty', it was a badge of his shame and nothing more to him. It would dredge up too much to explain this to her though.

"Thank you..." He finally managed to put together. The people on this ship seemed overly friendly, but a part of him still focused on the fact it could all be an act. "I don't want you to act different on my account, maybe it's just me but I usually feel people stare at it more than not."

"Well, I do not intend on acting any differently than who I am, well depending on my mood and such." Siadra took another look at Blake then added. " I've got a few layers that tend to come out from time to time. I tend to have a weird perception on different matters. Well now that I've taken up more of your time, I will be away like the leaves on the wind. I will probably see you from time to time. Until then I will bid you adieu." and she did a movement reminiscent of throwing a cloak over her shoulders and turned to walk away.

Chris watched her movements silently for a moment. "Uh... ok. Good bye then" He watched her as she walked away and then still stood there staring toward the doorway after she'd left. "Strange... I think..."
