Mission: The Hunt Begins
Location: Bridge - Deck 3 - USS Artemis
Timeline: MD03 1300 hrs

More and more of the ship, Siadra explored, taking notes and recording images of the damages the scars that the Artemis had taken in that battle.

"And here I am stepping into the turbo lift preparing to report into the captain and also to see what sort of shape this little ship is in. I had seen the battle scars on the surface of the ship. Testament of what happened on this side." the turbolift door opened revealing the bridge and... Captain Kidd. Siadra paused in her recording. "Permission to come onto the bridge Captain Kidd."

As chance had it Marc had just been handed the list of the remaining crew members who had not come aboard yet. It seemed that his Chief Science Officer and Forensic Pathologist had yet to come aboard, as well as one of the Criminal Investigators. This was something that could be understood seeing as the dust was still settling from the battle. As if on cue Marc turned after he heard his name and saw the Trill that he knew to be his Science Chief. "Granted, Lieutenant welcome to the Artemis. I trust that messy business did not have any ill effects."

"Well the ship that I had gotten a ride from, was caught up in the battle with the Breen, I made my notations upon it but now I am working on getting the different experiences that others have had with what happened. What happened with you and the ship during that battle?" Siadra asked stepping foot upon the bridge now, and looking about.

Marc's smile broadened, this was not what he had expected. He thought that the Science Chief would have asked the standard questions about their mission or what have you. "Our experience was one for the record books I would expect. While the crew of this ship was assembled with the idea of investigation in mind, we managed to take the fight to the Breen. It was rather interesting to see ships from all different races come to the defense of Poseidon Station. It goes to show for the importance of the station. This here is your station, as well as the science suite of stations." Marc pointed out the Science station as well as the stations beyond that were off to the right of the command pit as you faced the viewscreen.

Siadra's eyes sparkled when she saw the shiny science station area. Then her eyes went back to Marc, "That is impressive as to what you did. What were your thoughts in facing the Breen? And being on a Cardassian ship which helped the Paramount was astounding. It was a momentous event having all those who from time to time were enemies all working together in fighting a common foe. Just... sort of breath taking!"

"Quite so, quite so! I am afraid to say that most of the work we do, and you do aboard this ship will not be nearly as exciting. However, I expect that you and Dr Kenobi will speak for those who cannot. In particularly when we have a murder case on our hands. May I ask what piqued your interest with this assignment?" Marc had read the Trill's record and knew that she could have had her pick of assignments and yet she chose the Artemis. This alone made Marc curious, in fact he was more curious about her than most of his crew.

"I really wanted to get into a more specialization of my interests, and skills. And I do want to find out who dun it and why and how to catch the perpetrator of a crime which the case has gone quite cold." Siadra said with great earnestness. She was about to say something more when in her mind Keema nudged her, and tell him he is rather handsome, as he is. Siadra's eyes going somewhat blank when conversing with the others.

Instead of internalizing her thoughts when arguing with Keema, Siadra then said, "No I am not going to tell Captain Kidd that the reason why I am here was due to the handsome, men on the ship. Him included. I am not here to do a dating game, that just isn't - proper...." Siadra froze realizing that she had spoken her thoughts aloud. A small whisper, "oh crap."

Internally, Keema laughed.

Marc smiled broadly, he would be lying if he did not say he was flattered by the attention he got recently. "I am flattered Lieutenant. I know that often as we work in close quarters romances tend to bloom. So, I would say wait it out and see what happens." He tried to be as gentle as possible, while the image of Nala came unbidden to his mind. Marc doubled his efforts to make sure he did not show any signs of blushing. He allowed his words and the embarrassment of it all to settle before he continued. "I fully believe that you will have a chance to stretch those skills while on the Artemis. I know we are lucky to have someone of your skills and berth of knowledge running our sciences division."

Noticing that the captain was allowing the embarrassing outburst from her fade to the background, there was a definite relaxing of Siadra's body language. She was going to have a bit of a talk with Keema later on. This was a bit embarrassing right now.

"I am looking forward to the investigating process that will be entailed for this ship. I also am looking forward to getting to know the crew. Many different stories of people's experiences in life. Just a vast amount of untold tales, both for those living and those that are dead. Especially the dead." Siadra's tone went a bit somber there. "I just want to crack some cases that have gone rather cold. Icy, wintery, cold." she blinked a couple of times, then came back to focus. "Sorry I've got a bit of a wandering mind." looking back at the Captain.

"I have been told that sometimes that comes with the joining. All of those voices in you head or so I was told. I hope that we can close some of those cases as well, and quickly. We are going to have to clear some cases quick to prove to the powers that be that a unit like ours is needed. Believe me when I say we have a lot of enemies out there..." Marc did not have the heart to tell the woman that one of the enemies was the Admiral in charge of this unit. "...This is not going to be your standard ship, or standard service. So, have you any questions?"

"Unseen enemies, ones who don't want this ship to succeed. I do like the idea of this ship, to take care of the dark side of things that tend to just jump out and terrorize the good citizens and not be stopped. Well, for one, what is your standings on so called fraternization of crew? You had made your comment about possible romances that could happen. Still that would be something that needs to be addressed." Siadra deciding to find the facts out.

Marc's thoughts wandered for the moment as they went back to the night he and Nala spent together, and the hope for more nights like that. In a moment he realized that the silence had lingered for a bit too long. "I know the fleet frowns upon fraternization. But that is because they are afraid it will interfere with one's duties and decision making. I on the other hand cannot stand in the way of love. What's more is we are all on this ship together for a long time. It is downright insane if I am to believe that no one will fall in love with no one else. So long as your relationship does not interfere with this ship or its mission, I do not see a reason that you can't love who you want."

"Okay that is good to know, as the Captain of the ship is the ruler of his own kingdom. And I do agree with you, and so does the rest of my selves. It is for you to decide on how things need to be done on the ship. And if someone, anyone, decides to question that, I will back you up. I won't do that blindly, but you will have my support. And I won't have any qualms in being supportive. Love, romance, relationships are all a part of life. Well now do you have any questions you'd like to ask me?"

"I know that Trill draw on the experiences of the previous hosts to get them through certain situations. However, we are going to be dealing with some pretty sensitive situations. So, I have to ask: For you where is the line? What is the most heinous thing anyone from anywhere could ever do?" This was something Marc asked every crew member when he first met them. It allowed him to gauge reactions to certain crimes. Of course he always failed to mention that if faced with sexual or mental violation he did not think he would be able to contain his anger. But they would jump off that bridge when or if they came to it.

"Crimes against a child, infants, toddlers. That would be the hardest thing to deal with. Second would be a violation both physical and mental." Siadra said decidedly. "Those are the two that are on the top of my list." Siadra tilted her head slightly as she looked at the Captain. "What would be the most heinous crime that you would not wish to come across.

"Psionic Rape..." Marc began and waited a moment as he gathered his thoughts. Just thinking about that crime raised his ire. "There just is no way to defend against it. When someone enters your mind unbidden, without any form of consent that is the worst kind of invasion of privacy. Of course there are times when reaching into someone's mind will save their life. In those moments I guess it is warranted however, that is few and far between. I believe that mental invaders should be punished with the death penalty." He knew that his words were strong, and he didn't seem to care.

Siadra thought over the Captain's answer, that answer in and of itself spoke a great deal. "That indeed is a horrendous crime. I will say that for me, both of those crimes are even." Siadra looked over towards what would be her station, walking over and touching the console and taking a seat. "This will do quite fine, quite well indeed to crack mysteries, beside being down in the labs. "

"That reminds me... Your office is on Deck ten and the labs are spread between decks nine through twelve. Due to the specialty of our mission you will have a lot of specialty labs. Which means a lot of foot work for you getting between them and all. Your primary duty will be as our Chief Forensic Scientist. However, if the mission warrants it you will function in the capacity of a science officer as well." Marc figured with some of the small talk out of the way it would be good to go over the job description.

Siadra gave a nod, "Well I won't have to worry about keeping my girlish figure now would I?" giving a laugh. "I'll be able to do this, most definitely." the trill scientist answered. "It will be lovely to get down to business and start to solve crimes and hopefully get justice for those who can not speak."

Siadra rose from the seat in front of the console. "Its best time for me to get things sorted out, and also thank you for allowing me to ask some questions, about the Breen attack."

"Not at all Lieutenant. Feel free to join me for lunch after you settle in if you wish to pick my brain some more. Lord knows there is not much else to do around here as the rest of the crew boards so we can get underway." Marc smiled and turned to take his seat in the center chair.

"Indeed I will take you up on your offer, sir." Siadra giving a smile. "And hopefully Keema will not be making too many comments about your handsome face or your physique." the science officer giving a quick wink. "Until then, I will bid you adieu." with that, Siadra left the bridge without a backwards glance.
